You know now the favorites- Can i sleep without the lashes gluing my eyes shut?, Is it heavy? Is it itchy?, and a thousand other questions. Eyelash extensions have continued to be the hottest growing necessity in the beauty industry (at least in these parts *wink *wink), and many consumers out there are dying to get them! We understand that adding a new beauty service to your routine requires research, but let’s speed up your research and give you more reasons to jump into the trend by answering the most frequently asked questions about getting semi-permanent eyelash extensions that we get asked about a lot!

Do eyelash extensions hurt?

First things first Eyelash extensions should not hurt when applied correctly.  They are applied with professional tools by isolating one lash, and adhering one extension to your natural lash for classic lashes or fans for volume lashes. Most Lash Artists put a hydrogel eye gel patch  to prevent discomfort and aid in application.  It is important to go to a trusted and professional (Tres chic artists are the most trustworthy technicians *wink) Lash artist to ensure that they are applied correctly to each lash. All in all, your extensions should not hurt you! If they do you probably have an eye infection. Reasons why we at Tres Chic care about you so much to give you tips daily about your lashes as well as bi-weekly checkups.

Do eyelash extensions look fake?

Eyelash extensions can be applied to look anyway that you desire.  Most reputable lash artists will be able to give you your desired look or very similar.  You can choose to have shorter natural looking lashes, (Classic) or you could have an in between look which is not too full and slightly obvious (Hybrid) or you could go big and get the large dramatic lashes (Volume).  Typically speaking, eyelash extensions don’t look fake unless that is the look that you are going for.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

This particular question depends on the maintenance culture of the client,  after every appointment we give clients a card detailing the care routine for the extensions but generally most eyelash extension adhesives have a bond time of anywhere from 3-4 weeks after which the client should come in for a refill.

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

The price of lash extensions is determined by the determined style the client desires. We recommend calling around, and pricing out your lashes or you could visit our website for more information on our prices.

Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash except you pull them out yourself after application.

Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?

Yes you can! However, we recommend you use an oil free mascara that is extension safe instead of a water-proof mascara.  This will make it so your mascara does not interfere with the bond of the eyelash extension adhesive or cause early separation.

Can I wear eye make-up with my eyelash extensions?

You most definitely can wear make-up with your eyelash extensions.  When selecting makeup, it is beneficial to go with ’extension safe’ make-up.  ‘Extension safe’ makeup is oil free, usually contains sealants to prolong extension life and helps to work adjacent with your extensions for an optimal look.  If you use regular make-up, it is recommended that you avoid make-up removers from touching your lashes. Instead, use a cotton bud to clean or remove make up residues around the lashes.
